Binakol

Binakol is a textile that is found originally in Sarrat. It can be woven into an array of products such as bags, coin purse, leis, and most popular product, blankets. In an attempt to maintain the industry, Sarrat holds annual Binakol Festival meant to promote weaving and to showcase the handicrafts.

Tupig

Tupig is basically a glutinous rice cake wrapped in banana leaves, baked or grilled with charcoal. It comes with melted butter and is garnished with grated coconut milk, young coconut stips, sugar or molasses, sesame seeds and a sprinkle of salt.

Rit-Ritemon Kayong Uprising Monument

Built in front of the Old Presidencia. It commemorates the heroic resistance and valiant assault led by Don Jose Jamias Ver on the American garrison in Laoag. It is now serves as a living testimony of the freedom- loving spirit of the Sarratenos who demonstrates nationalism, love and liberty for their country; Rit-ritemon means rip the fence apart.

Marcos Museum (Sarrat)

It is actually the Edralin house where the former President Ferdinand E. Marcos was born on September 11, 1917, the house then was a traditional 2-storey bahay na bato, with a red brick ground floor for storage and the wooden upper level with its hardwood floor, reserved for the living quarters.

Sta. Monica Parish Church

Best known as the largest church in Ilocos Norte. The Church was built in 1779 and it was originally known as San Miguel Church in remembrance of the first Augustian Missionaries that arrived in Sarrat. Connected by a stairway to the church is a former convent, also known as Casa Del Palacio Real. The convent is also a survivor of two fires: one in March 1816 and the other in October 1892. It is now the repository of the town’s artifacts and memorabilia.
